The White's GoldMaster 24K Metal Detector Standard Package is built to sniff out the smallest gold nuggets and flakes. Their various search coils that have been designed for gold prospecting are some. The Whites CoinMaster GT was the natural choice when it was time to upgrade from my Whites ID. The GT gives me the depth that I was looking for, without spending big money for it. The controls are easy to understand and use. The depth, again, is absolutely brilliant.
I was out for the first time with a borrowed GT. I liked it and found a few things but don't have anything to compare it against. Before I 'pull the trigger' on a purchase, I want to know what I am missing for one (big) price point higher.Whites Coinmaster Gt Review
I understand the Coinmaster GT is pretty much the same as the discontinued Prizm 6T. A thread from 2007 on the Whites forum discusses the 6T compared to the MX5 here:http://forums.whiteselectronics.com/...ghlight=versus
And here are some 'non-review' thoughts from September 2013 from another forum. https://www.ahrps.org/forums/read.ph...,2112#msg-2112
Here is a more complete and technical review:

But I don't know if there are qualities the Coinmaster GT has that the 6T did not have for the sake of comparing it to the MX5. The MX5 is $200 more than the Coinmaster GT. What are the differences between these two that make the MX5 worth $200 more.
Please discuss in terms of the following:
Ease of use/weight
Display features
Sensitivity
Selectivity/discrimination - is the MX5 any more accurate in identifying the type of metal than the GT?
Depth (using equal coils)
Value/Resale
The features appear to be virtually identical between the Coinmaster GT and the MX5. What are the REAL/usable differences?
Whites Coinmaster Gt Review
The only benefit I am aware of is more coils are available. What are the benefits of the additional coils beyond the two that are available for the Coinmaster GT?
Thanks
The Whites Coinmaster GT is a mid level metal detector with a lot of great features. It has an LCD display with Whites Visual Discrimination numbers which will help identify targets. The unit includes the typical mid level features such as sensitivity and discrimination adjustment, pinpoint, and variable tone ID.
One feature that the Coinmaster GT has that most other units don’t have in this price range is the back-light. If you like hunting in the dark it’s a great feature to have. Another neat feature is the “Beach mode” which is specifically designed for better performance on salt water beaches. There weren’t many reviews online but the overall opinion from what we gathered is that it is a solid entry to mid level machine.
